WWB3 - Language Access as Workforce Effectiveness: Practical Strategies for Community Health Centers
Wednesday, October 22, 2025
2:45 PM - 3:45 PM PT
Location: Roman I (Promenade Level)
Session Description: Community health centers serve some of the most linguistically assorted patient populations in the country, and frontline staff often face the burden of bridging language gaps without adequate tools or resources. This session will examine how language access challenges directly affect workforce efficiency, patient safety, and care for all. Drawing from experiences in health center pilots and broader industry practices, we will explore value-based approaches to delivering interpretation that reduce staff stress, improve patient trust, and strengthen organizational capacity. The conversation will focus on lessons learned, practical challenges, and actionable strategies for CHCs striving to meet the needs of their limited-English-proficient patients within constrained budgets.
Learning Objectives:
Evaluate emerging tools and models (including AI-enabled options) for addressing language barriers and assess how they complement existing interpreter services.
Connect language access strategies to measurable outcomes such as reduced staff burnout, improved patient engagement, and greater workforce efficiency.
Design a practical roadmap for strengthening language access in their own centers, drawing on real-world lessons from CHC pilots and peer organizations.
